The right to an education is a universally recognized right, protected in multiple international and national conventions including the Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. For displaced children growing up in informal camps in Northern France, there are numerous barriers in place which prevent them from accessing education. This short briefing, published by Project Play with the support of Refugee Rights Europe highlights the barriers to education, whilst calling on the French and UK government to uphold their obligations under the Convention on the Rights of the Child through making decisions informed by the best interests of the child principle.
